Question: What is the Critical Path?

In project management and scheduling, the critical path is the series of tasks within a project which currently determine the end date. The tasks not on the critical path are important, but their current start and end dates are not influencing the project's end. If a critical path task slips, meaning runs late, the end date of the project will certainly slip too. On the other hand, if a task on not on the critical path slips, there may or may not be an effect on the project's end date. To find out, you'll have to calculate the critical path each time.
